
Kenneth F. Kanipes

Former Oak Ridge police officer
Kenneth F. Kanipes, age 62, a resident of Phoenix, Ariz., passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at St. Luke's Medical Center in Tempe, Ariz. He was born Jan. 27, 1944, in Harriman, living in Arizona for the past seven years.
Kenneth was of the Baptist faith. He was a former Oak Ridge police officer and Anderson County deputy sheriff and was also a founding member of the United Patriots of America. He retired from Northland Trucking Company in Phoenix, Ariz., after working over 25 years in the trucking industry. Kenneth was also a devoted and dedicated University of Tennessee sports fan.
Kenneth F. Kanipes He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Lloyd and Bernice Long Kanipes; and sisters, Eloise Kanipes, Juanita Pugh, Kathleen Smith and Martha Turnbill. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Weaver Kanipes of Phoenix, Ariz.; sons, Kenneth Fredrick Kanipes Jr. and wife Shirley Diane of Colorado, and Russell Kent Kanipes and wife Shirleen of Canada; grandson, Daniel Mitton of Canada; brother, Burl Kanipes and wife Etta of Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews and a host of special friends, many living in Phoenix, Ariz.; and special cats, Yanni and Rocky Road.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2006, at Sharp Funeral Home with funeral service following at 8 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Wade Holbrook http://oakridger.com/stories/020906/obi_20060209036.shtml
